I just got my an OT/PT acceptance for Queens and I have questions about the program/acceptance process?

Where are the classes usually held? Is it accessible to get to?
Our classes are usually in Botterell Hall and Louise D Acton, which are the most far south-east buildings on campus. For OT, we also have quite a few classes in Kingston Hall. For PT, we have some classes in Carruthers Hall. You have free bus transportation with your Queen's student ID and walking from downtown Kingston is roughly a 20min walk. There are paid street parking with a maximum $7.5 for 3 hours. Parking passes for parking lots can be bought through Queens, if that is your preference. 

Will I need a car?
While a car is generally not required, it is helpful for placements. Some placements do require a car, but this will be listed in the placement description before ranking. It is generally helpful as there are placements in Prince Edward County and Greater Napanee region, thus a lot of student stay in their Kingston home and drive into placement each day. However, it is also common to have someone to carpool with. Kingston transit is pretty good, and a lot of people also bike around town. 

​Where will I do my placement / will I have to move? 
Pictured on the right is Queen's catchment area within the red lines. While most placements are within the general Kingston area, there is a chance that you will be placed outside of Kingston.

When will I hear about placements? 
This is up to the discretion of your respective (PT or OT) fieldwork coordinators. In general, you can expect to match around a month before placement starts. 

Will I be able to work during the school term? 
This is up to you! I would recommend waiting to see if you find that there is a significant difference in work-life-balance with the workload difference between undergrad and grad school before committing to a significant amount of work, however, many students work part-time during the school year.
